Set stills of Christian Karembeu for Eleven Sports and La Liga
I've worked with Eleven Sports before, making the official headshots of their commentators for on-screen visuals. But in the beginning of May I got a more peculiar call from their marketing manager: La Liga-legend and former French international Christian Karembeu was coming to Belgium to attend the viewing of Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona in the Kinepolis Theatre of Brussels. Eleven Sports needed still images of the interviews Karembou would be giving to the Belgian press, as well as some key images to help promote their cinema viewings in the future. Needless to say, I politely obliged.
Recreating the look and feel of Stranger Things
Along with half the world I bingewatched season 2 of Stranger Things over the Halloween weekend. Since this series is praised so much for its visuals (and set design), I decided to do some trickery in Davinci Resolve 14 to recreate that renowned 80ies look.
Double-page spread in Grinta! Magazine °64 - oct. 2017
One of my shots of the European Fixed Gear championship made for a nice spread image for an article about quirky champions. This was actually my first panning shot of that day (they are always a bit hit-and miss). Funnily enough, I had this perfect frame of German Canyon Radpack-rider Jonas Fischer rocking the number 100.
Social media content for Veloloft - oct. 2017
Grinta! Magazine commissioned me to cover their annual 'Coppi Koffie Ride', a high-on-espresso touring ride across the Flemish Ardennes. This year they collabed with Veloloft, the bike store co-owned by Greg Van Avermaet and Rik Verbrugghe. They chose to feature one of my shots on Greg's Instagram account, totalling 10k likes.
WOWOW Reflective Wear: Catalogue & lifestyle photography - fall 2017
Grinta! Magazine teamed up with WOWOW Reflective Wear (Belgium's #1 brand in high-viz sports wear) to create an inspiring catalogue that brings a human perspective to an otherwise overly clinical sales booklet. That's when they hired me. But there's one rub to this assignment: the reflective clothing needs on-axis fill light to actually reflect in the picture, so I had to carefully consider my lighting style to not break the reportage feel of the shots. Nothing I couldn't manage though. Teaser shot below, catalogue coming fall 2017.
Social media content for Wahoo! Fitness - sept. 2017
I was originally commissioned by Grinta! Magazine to cover the 'Rad Race', the unformal European championships of fixed gear racing. However, the race organisation itself picked up on my coverage and so did their official partners; Wahoo! Fitness being one of them. They then asked me to have one of my shots featured on their Instagram feed, which totals about 20k followers.
Grinta! Rondom Zeeland Ride - sept. 2017
Grinta! Magazine is known for organizing scenic group rides. I played a rabbit and turtle race with the 30-something riders to capture them in the beautiful surroundings of the westernmost province of the Netherlands. Full gallery here.
